We are currently hiring for the following position(s):

Residential Services Advocate

Status:           Full time, non-exempt

Salary:           $50,000-$55,000 annually based on previous experience and applicable skills. Competitive benefits package.  No-cost housing provided as part of position.

Reports to:    Director of Client Services

 

Position Overview

The Residential Services Advocate plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of Community Safety Network's residential programs while providing essential client services to program participants. The Residential Services Advocate resides on CSN campus to ensure appropriate response time to client and facility needs. This multifaceted position involves overseeing facility management and operations, as well as delivering compassionate support and advocacy to individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. This role serves as a crucial link between administrative tasks, facility maintenance, client services, and contributing to the overall effectiveness and success of CSN’s mission.  This is a full-time, non-exempt position and requires work evenings and on-call coverage Monday-Friday. A collaborative work ethic, inclusivity and humility are crucial elements of this role on the CSN team.

 

Facilities Management and Operations (70%)

Evaluate and maintain on-campus facilities

  • Identify and evaluate maintenance concerns while working collaboratively with Office and Operations Manager to resolve
  • Turn rooms and other household tasks as needed
  • Perform minor repairs as needed

Supplies Management

  • Manage inventory and organization of all supplies utilized in the emergency housing program including groceries, medication, toiletries, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • Conduct routine evaluations of inventory including toys, books, appliances, furniture, dishware, and other items in residential programs

Donation Management and Storage Upkeep

  • Coordinate the storage and organization of donated and purchased food, clothing, furniture, household supplies, kitchen items, and other supplies

Client Engagement (30%)

Primary client engagement will include providing advocacy for housing program participants.

  • Emotional support
  • Crisis response and safety planning
  • Conflict resolution
  • Resources and advocacy
  • Task support (filling out forms and applications, transportation assistance, technology assistance, etc.)
  • Complete emergency housing program intakes as needed
  • On-call crisis response including 24/7 helpline, on and off-campus response
  • Identify resident dynamics as they arise and collaborate with client services team for resolution
  • Keep accurate documentation of client services, dynamics, and situations

This breakdown is not exhaustive and does not encompass all tasks and responsibilities associated with the position of the Residential Services Advocate. Additional tasks may be required based on specific organizational needs. This list is intended to highlight key responsibilities of the role.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant human service sector experience preferred. Applicants that demonstrate affinity for client service work and have related experience will also be considered.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.

Key Skills and Abilities

  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to think critically and problem-solve is crucial for addressing maintenance needs as well as the complex needs of clients, including safety planning, accessing resources, assessing challenges and finding creative solutions to support survivors in overcoming barriers to safety.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are necessary for managing client records, coordinating services, and maintaining confidentiality. The Residential Services Advocate should be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently to ensure that survivors receive the support they need in a timely manner.
  • Crisis Intervention Skills: should be trained in crisis intervention techniques and equipped to respond to survivors in crisis with empathy, reassurance, and safety planning. They should be able to de-escalate tense situations and connect survivors with appropriate resources and support services.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: should be adaptable to the changing needs of survivors and the evolving landscape of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking services. They should be able to respond flexibly to emergencies and crises while maintaining a trauma-informed and survivor-centered approach.
